Hello,

I'm sure this is an easy one for you all...

Console, from loop key, dials 4141. 4141 is SCR appearance on key 2 of secretary's phone.
She answers. Operator needs to speak with secreatry's boss, owner of key 0, 4141. She puts operator on hold.
Her key 4141 is flashing. She buzzes (I/C) her boss to pick up his line. He cannot. Why and
what needs to happen/changeto make it work?

Many thanks.

You cannot put an Attendant Console on hold. You cant even hang up on an attendant - they own all sides of the call, and therefore need to call the person and have them answer.

If the attendant actually has a call for the manager, just have the Attendant release the call to the Secy. Then the Secy will be able to put it on hold.

If the attendant just needs to talk to the manager, then they should call from their side phone.

You might want to check the that the secretary's phone does not have CLS XHA.

Thank you both very much. I love this Board and am grateful for the help and replies.

Also try setting MCR (MGR) / MCN (Sec) MultiCall Ringing & Non Ringing
to make it easier when tranferring calls back

SCR (SingleCallRinging) line is set and its usually best to use CallPickUp (Group)
in that scenario when Mgr/Sec filtering, transferring back etc

There are other MGR/SEC solutions but Switchboard has control 'always'

Cheers !!

The switchboard does have control as far as releasing the call. But the secretary should still be able to put an attendant extended call on hold and be able to pick it up from another set provided the secretary does not have CLS XHA.

Stanley,

It doesn't work. I'm "hanging it up" (pun intended *g*) and going to recommend installing a side phone.
Thanks very much for your feedback.

Stanley indicated Attendant Extended, and that means the Attendant releases the call. In this case, the Attendant is staying on, so you are stuck.

Okay okay! [smile]

If the attendant is transferring a call, but stays on the line without releasing, then the call can be put on hold and picked up at another phone. That's what I was talking about.

But if the attendant just dials the extension directly (no incoming call) then it's true - the extension can put the attendant on hold but it can't be picked up elsewhere. Which is what Niseold originally stated.

Sorry for raising any hopes!

Thanks again Stanley and GHTROUT. Love you guys.
