Console cable from Router to switch 1

Good day,

I saw a consultant hook up a Cisco Console cable that had the RJ45 jacks on each end connect one into the AUX on a 2801ISR and then connect the other end into the console input of a Cisco 2950 switch. Is that possible and then how do you access the switch once you do that? I assume he telneted to the router then had someway to access the Switch.

Any ideas?
