Does the console have to be at a LOM prompt in order to send a break or alternate break to go to Open Boot? I set our console to alternate break. The console was swapped out for a PC and we are now using hyperterm. When I entered the alt-B, it continued to ask for user id / password. I moved the original console, a 3153 terminal, back in and it also would not accept the atl-B to go to Open Boot. I know I tested the Alt-B and it worked but I think I was at an LOM prompt. How do you get from the getty screen to LOM?

Sorry, but it was all my fault.... A true comedy of errors. The alternate escape sequence is not a ctr-B but tilda ctl-B. I used the tilda in the past where everything worked, but forgot it this go round....

When I changed back to the normal break sequence by updating the /etc/default/kdb file, I did not run the "kbd -i" command..... That is why the ctl-Break did not work.

All is golden now.

I still would like to know how to go from the login getty to the LOM prompt....
