Hello friends,
I have a Linksys BEFSR41 DSL/Cable router connected to an Alcatel STHome ADSL modem. The configuration is of a PPTP protocol (WAN miniport). Finally, I was able to make it work, however, I loose connection about something like 1 minute after establishing a connection; each time.
I'm really desperate.
Spent hours upon hours with the Linksys tech. support, and my ISP's tech. support. Went through the FAQs. Called a dozen friends, but still can do nothing to make the connection STABLE.
What could it be??
Please, post your ideas. I could really use a good piece of advice now.
Looking forward to reading your replies, and hopefully fixing this problem.
P.S. - I noticed that when set to "Auto Negotiation" my network adapters connect at 100 Mbps. Even when I try to "force" a 10 half duplex connection on them, the router somehow overrides this manual configuration. The thing is, no only that it's always a good idea to try and set it to 10 half duplex to fix occuring problems, but I also noticed that when connected directly to the computer (without the router) my modem will NOT connect at all when the local area connection is at 100 Mbps; only when I lower it to 10 half duplex it can connect successfully to the internet.
So I'm thinking, maybe forcing a 10 Mbps connection on the LAN will stop the disconnections? Only I've been unable to do so. Any idea how to PERMANENTLY set it to 10 Mbps for the whole network?
THANK YOU!!
Simon.
