I am trying to investigate what the best mail server product for our company would be.

So far I have looked into Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Groupwise. I am rwally struggling ti find an unbiased opinion on any of these products.

I would very much appreciate any comments you may have [sig][/sig]

Check out my FAQ in the Lotus Domino forum about which solution is best for you. I believe Groupwise is going to die soon. Between Notes and Exchange, there are so many differences, and they're both good products. You need to decide which is best for you. My old company used NOTES. I liked it. It does more than email. It also served as like a depository for their intranet and had database functions.

We use Exchange here and its only being used for email. [sig][/sig]

I've supported MSMail, Exchange and Groupwise. Can't speak much for Notes, although I gather it is an excellent product for it's market. I'd suggest taking a look at Exchange 2000 (requires Windows 2000). Basically, if money's no issue, the competition is really between Exhange 2000 and Notes. If your shop is going to have Windows 2000 with Active Directory, Exchange 2000 would almost be a no brainer if you're not already deep into Notes. [sig][/sig]

If money is the issue or you only want email (Exch and Notes are so much more than email), try NT mail.

Exchange 2000 is good fun though... [sig]
Zel

[/sig]

I've used Notes and Exchange. Notes is solid and incorporates some good functions. Exchange also has some good things about it, but along with many M$ products it comes with security holes and the like. Exchange 5.5 would be better if you could get that. Chances are since Exchange 2000 is out you won't be able to get 5.5. I'm not much for jumping onto any new M$ products myself.
