We have a weekly case list for the firm, input by myself and one other paralegal. I use WordPerfect9 Office Legal. Created a table 7 cells wide and 'erased' the lines so it appears as columnar. I want numbers in the 1st cell. I have 100+ entries and selected 'Auto list 108' from outline tools/numbering. The numbers automatically increase only through 48 (sometimes 49)and the next cell defaults back to 1 (or sometimes (H)). I input all the text and then go back and number the cells. I've tried "start new list" and "resume list" but nothing works. Anyone got an answer?

How about using a formula in those cells of the table? I realize that it's not as automatic, but it can be handled very quickly.

For example, let's assume that the first numbered cell contains a 1 and is cell A3 (allowing 2 rows for table and column headers). Turn on the formula toolbar. In cell A4 (the next one down), type the formula A3 + 1 and click on the BLUE check mark. Next, click on Copy Formula and tell it to copy down. Click and hold on the little arrow to increase the number until it stops. then click OK. It will copy the formula (adjusting the cell IDs as it goes) to provide the next number--without starting over.

When you add more rows that you want numbered, just go to the first cell in the last numbered row and turn on the formula tool bar, click on Copy Formula, then Down, then on the up arrow and OK. A little awkward, perhaps, but very fast and easy to do. BlackburnKL
