We are trying to connect a Cisco Switch port, controlled by Cisco Call manager, to a Bogen ZPM3 overhead paging module. We have tried connecting FXS ports programmed as Loop Start, POTS, and Ground Start configurations. When the Directory Number is dialed, the port sends ring voltage. We have tried to find out how to make the port simply act as an off-hook line. When a craft-test-set is connected to the ZPM3, overhead paging works. We know that we could use FXO ports to connect the switch to the ZPM3. We have two other VoIP sites that connect to overhead paging. Checking the programming shows that FXS ports programmed as POTS lines are successfully used at those sites.

If you have experience connecting a Bogen ZPM3 to a Cisco Switch, Using Call Manager, please advise.

If you want to use an FXS port you need a bogen TAM-B2 in between.
If you check your remote sites you'll find out there's one of those at each one.

At one of the two sites using the POTS FXS-POTS line, we are connecting directly to a Bogen ZPM9. that tells me that we can connect to something other than a TAM-B.

I set up the paging at the facility that has the ZPM 9 connected to the Call manager, FXS port, and it works. I did read the information you provided in the link, and it states that a station port requires the use of a TAM B in addition to the ZPM 3.

Thank you for your help. You were correct. I'm not sure why the ZPM 9 configuration is working though. I double checked the port usage, and we are using an FXS configured as a POTS line at that site.

I'm not being argumentive, just stating the faxt of our set up. I believe our best practice configuration would beto use the FXO connection option, as I've been reading on multiple help sites that it's more stable, and reliable. I believe that what you sent will allow me to get overhead paging up and running at the new site.

Thank you.
