Connection With Neax 2000 IVS from PC 2

I am new to a phone system. I like to connect Voice Mail PC to Nec NEAX2000 IVS phone switch and i have a NEC cable. One end of this cable is connected to COM1 serial port from the back of the PC.
Where should I connect other end of Nec Cable on the phone system?
OR
Which card slot of switch should I use to connect other end of the cable?
Please let me know.

What type of VM is it? What is the exact name of cable you have? And, what type of integration do you want to do?

We have Repartee 7.42 VM with OS2. We have NEC cable RS RVS-4S CA-C. One end of this cable is connected to PC on COM1 port through JAE DB-02-J9 S6 connector. Other end of cable should fit into NEAX 2000 IVS PIM0 into one the following slots.
a) LT13/AP3 Slot with card AA00A.
b) MPC/FPC/AP7 Slot with card PN-CP00B
c) BUS/AP8 Slot with Card PN-BS00-B


Which of the above is correct slot for above cable to connect to 2000 IVS?


Please let me know.

This system used to work. We have moved from one location to another with different phone number. One of our employee uninstalled the system and the moved to new location.But I have to setup this system and I was involved during uninstallation at that time.

For item "a", do you mean AP00-A instead of "AA00A"? I'm guessing you do. This is the card that allows MCI (Message Center Interface) integration to your VM. The other cards you mention are the Main Processor (CP00B) and a BUS card (BS00B). The AP00 has a bank of 4 connectors (the white connector on the front of the card) that the RVS cable will connect to. One of them is programmed for MCI. You need to find out which one of those ports off of the AP00 card is programmed for MCI.

To do this check the following Commands within the PBX:

D001>80>? (very bottom port of connector - Port-0)
D001>100>? (one up from the bottom of connector - Port-1)
D001>120>? (two up from the bottom of connector - Port-2)
D001>140>? (very top port of connector - Port-3)

The ports on the AP00 card a designated 0, 1, 2, 3 counting from the BOTTOM up, not TOP down.

Which ever one equals "24" in the above command, that is the one for MCI and that is the port number the RVS cable is to be pluged into.

DEFAULT, COM2, not COM1 is used on the VM unit for the RVS cable. If the Modem for the VM is assigned to COM2 then yes, COM1 would need to be used.

You have given me very good directions.Since I am new to phone system.
If possible. I like to use Dterm Series E digital phones to use the following commands.
Can I use the above phones to enter the following PBX commands? Please give me the step by step instructions to enter the following commands from Dterm phone.


To do this check the following Commands within the PBX:

D001>80>? (very bottom port of connector - Port-0)
D001>100>? (one up from the bottom of connector - Port-1)
D001>120>? (two up from the bottom of connector - Port-2)
D001>140>? (very top port of connector - Port-3)

Yes, you can use any Dterm to go into "CAT" Mode to check the programming provided that CAT mode has not been restricted via Class Of Service for that phone your trying from.

To do this do the following key trokes:

1. Press the following keys on the Dterm: Transfer Conf * (star key) Transfer Conf # (number sign key). The Dterm display will show "CAT MODE". Now press the Redial key and Dterm display will say "COMMAND="

2. Key in D001 then hit Reacall then dial 80 then Recall again. (To get the "D" in D001 you depress the 4th line key from the left, top row of the Dterm line keys).

3. After you chek 80, check 100 and then 120 then 140. Which ever one is set to "24", that's the one set for MCI.

Remember, 80 is Port-0, 100 is Port-1, 120 Port-2, 140 Port-3 (Ports are designated from the BOTTOM up, not top down).

a) I am able to complete step 1 as you suggested.
b) In step 2, I have problem in entering "D". Do you mean "DEF" which is same "3". If I press this it shows 3 not D.

Do I need press any other key? Please let me know.

The first six line keys can be used for Alphanumeric i.e.
Line Key 1 = A
Line Key 2 = B
Line Key 3 = C
Line Key 4 = D
Line Key 5 = E
Line Key 6 = F

With your help, I am able to find that port by running above commands. Port-1 is programmed for MCI. Now we have connected RVS cable to port-1 and other end is connected to COM2 of Voice Mail System.
