We lose regularly connection with SQL Server. (We connect on LAN via Access project front-end.)
That happens a few times a day. It longs for about 5 minutes and then we can go on.
The problem is not the LAN, since connecting attempts on server machine itself (via Enterprise Manager) also fail.

On Access we get following error message:
"Test connection failed because of an error initializing provider. Timeout expired."

On Enterprise Manager shows following message:
"A connection could not be established to SQLSERV. Reason: General network error. Check your network documentation. ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake()).. Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties and try again."

It seems the DB freezes for a couple of minutes.

All suggestions heartly welcomed.

Are you using DHCP on the network and what is the license time. it may be that the server is getting re licensed with a different IP each time.

Hope it helps.
