I finally got reporting services to work with visual studio.net. i've created a report and then deployed it to the report server. when i go to view the report from the Reports page, i get the error:

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'SANDO'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

i have installed reporting services on my machine and the database is on my machine. but the report server is on another server that i have to access...

can anyone help me fix this problem?

do you want me to find anything out that i haven't answered so you can help me more?

if you log into the reportserver, go under administrative tools | Services, and find ReportServer what account is it running under?

and you have verified 100% that the credentials given at the prompt exist as users in SQL Server??

umm tell me again how to verify that to make sure i did it right, please

open Enterprise Manager on the source server (which would be your computer), expand (local), expand Security, click on Logins and in here you will see all of the users that have some sort of access to the databases on your server. Verify that the login(s) match up with login(s) that you input into the username password fields at the prompt in any of the reports you try to run. did i explain this clearly??

yes very clearly, thanks. and yup they match up!

does it have to be a shared data source? what else can i check?

please let me know if theres anything else i can try, but i won't be back until tomorrow now. thank so much for everything so far

i'm totally stumped as to why it won't work...I would either call microsoft or reinstall reporting services, but that is me
