Connection problems using MSDE2000

I'm trying to connect to my database using a ODBC connection but when I create the connection I get the following error:

Login failed for user 'sa'.Reason: Not associated with a Trusted SQL Server connection.

The reason may be that your Authentication is 'Windows Only' - it can be chaged from Enterprise Manager - right click on Server - Properties - Security then choose SQL Server and Windows authentication

I already did this. Is there anything else I can do. Don't forget this is MSDE2000, Enterprise Manager is not available.

When I did this, I actually went back, uninstalled the server and reinstalled it with the SECURITYMODE=SQL on the setup line. Was documented in the MSDE 2000 download page from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/
