I am having an intermittent problem connecting via ODBC to a PSQL 2000i SP4 server on a Win2K Server with a client of either Win2k, XP pro or Win2k Server (web). I get the following error:
[Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][Client LNA]The ODBC Client Interface cannot access the data source because SQL Connection Manager is not running at the specified port number. Contact your system administrator for assistance.
This happens for a few hours then all is ok again.
The first time it happened was the day after an 8 hour power outage and the UPS didn't make it for that time. Maybe this was coincidental?
We have apps that are written in Delphi using Titan and they have no problems connecting to the DB. It would appear that it is an ODBC issue. I thought that it was a DNS or name resolution problem, but an NSlookup on the connecting machine resolved the name fine. With the Pervasive ODBC driver I have read before that if an ip address is used and not a name it can cause a similar error. A name has been used.
I am perplexed at what could be causing it now.
Any suggestions and help are gratefully appreciated.
