We have a stumper. There have been a rash of dropped network connections, often in the middle of using an application. While the computer still functions, there is no network connectivity. The computers are all Compaq Armada 1530s using Xircom PS II network adapters. Each computer is connected to the LAN via a 3Com Switch 1100. These are the only constants we have been able to identify. Any recommendations of what to look for, or where to find other reports of similar problems would be appreciated.
Thanks!

What sort of application are you using? I have seen a similar problem over 1000 switches where we get ODBC timeouts and then on occasions crahes the app (SQL) until a decent connection is made.
Mostly Microsoft applications like Exchange and Word(executable on the pc with the file being madified on the network). Also LAT connections to a VMS server using Reflection software. We have been swapping out the Xircom PSII for 3Com 10/100 cards, but that is an expensive solution. Any hints?
Thanks!

Moxy,

I experienced today, that same problem with a Comaq computer, not sure about the network card, and a linksys 16 port switch. It dropped the connection, and would only work on one port in the switch. I am also stumped, no databse connectivity here, just internet connection. If you find anything, I would appreciate a lead on more information.

Thanks
