Hi, can anyone help me on this issue. I followed the implementation points on setting up SCN but after following the steps provided, all calls to the remote office DO NOT ring but then it goes to the voicemail after 4 rings. They do not ring on both sides.

what system? what release? centralized voicemail? what voicemail?

the system is IP Office 412 and 406 all with release 4.1 (12) and am using a voice mail lite

voicemail lite on both sides? or centralized?

its centralized. a system on the same network. the ip address of the voice mail is 192.168.1.238 and that of the two systems are 192.168.2.236 /237

so they are both using the same network? are they in different locations?
SCN is usually quite nice if all the ports are open if they use the same network but are in different locations then it is most likely some port not opened up.

what options do you have ticked on the IP line?

what you using to route the traffic (cisco pix)?

sounds like ports not open to me if its centraziled voicemail

sorry misread the ip address the 1 and the 2 in the second last position.

they are on the same network but different location. how do i check if the ports are not opened. is this to do with a firewall??

can callers from the remote location call to the voicemail with *17?

are the sites linked via a VPN i guess?

UDP 1718 H.323 H.323 Discovery
UDP 1719 H.323 RAS H.323 Status. VoIP device registering with the IP Office.
UDP 1720 H.323/H.245 H.323 Signalling. Data to a registered VoIP device.
UDP 69 TFTP File requests to the IP Office.

this is a good place to start, these ports need opening on both sides and ip address's of the IPO on each side need full access in both directions.

ACS - IP Office

yes the remote users can access the voicemail with *17

what options have you got checked on your IP line at both sites?

ACA - IP Office
ACS - IP Office

i have the following check on the IP line

Enable Faststart
Out of band DTMF
Allow direct media path
Voice Networking

try turning off allow direct media path at both sides, just a thought if remote users can collect voicemail yet no speech or ringing

ACA - IP Office
ACS - IP Office

also make sure you have unique names and numbers at both sites

ACA - IP Office
ACS - IP Office

i have configured the port forwarding on the access point router linking the two buildings together but the phones cannot ring but you can connect to the voicemail.

any help pls

You need more ports open
