Connecting two PDCs/Trust 2

All:

I am creating a trust between two PDCs. One PDC has 2 NICs, the other just one. The trust works and users on the multihomed PDC can see the resources I want them to see on the PDC with one NIC. The problem is that the users on the multihomed server network realize a severe slowdown in network performance. Client boot times increase dramatically, and network performance is very slow. It is as if traffic is stuck in some "loop" - not knowing what route to take. The NICs are connected to the switch of the "home" network and the other NIC connected to the switch of the other PDC network, configured with one of its static IPs. This "loop" is similar to the problem you get if you "piggyback" switches incorrectly, or with an extra cable. If I disable the trust NIC - the performance problem disappears, but then no trust. Any help on solving this performance problem is greatly appreciated. thank you

Thanks brontosaurus!

The DNS settings for both NICS are the ISP DNS. Both Servers are sharing a T1 connection. The server with the 2 NICs - one is connected to its internal, local network switch, the other to the switch of the other network. Each of the network switches are tied into a third switch connected to the T1 - an Adit 600 V.35 device. Should the second NICs DNS be that server's IP? What if I only listen for DNS authentication on the 1st NIC? Should neither of the servers DNS be the DNS of the ISP? Would the fact that both NICs are the same exact Card be a factor? Thank you

Microsoft and I do NOT recommend to have a multihomed W2k DC. There is alot of problems. Only PRIMARY NIC must register itself in DNS! File and Print Sharing services MUST be anabled and binded at FIRST place for both NIC's.
Thuthemore, I think for the best performance you must set up a RRAS service and create a router from your DC (if u like this config) . Implement an OSPF or RIP protocols to exchange with other routers in your network.
I had the asme problem. I solved it in such a way.

yeah, listen to what Victor said....

but speaking purely from a DNS point of view, you need to set up an internal nameserver that both your clients and server will resolve to. Then, that nameserver will forward internet based queries to your ISP for resolution...

Thanks B and V!

You're right about the Multihomed setup. Thanks, I'll give the RRAS a try.
