Hi everyone,

One of our directors has a laptop running Windows 98 which has been set up to see her Exchange e-mail inbox and it synchronises so that when she logs off the network (she dials in using RAS) she can still see her inbox and compose e-mail, etc.

We asked the IT supplier if she could view a copy of the group diary stored under Public Folders (used by everyone to see appts/holidays/sickness for all staff). But we were told NO it can't be done. Even just a straightforward copy for viewing where the user could download an udpated one when she dials in? The answer again was no.

Is this correct?

Regards,
Jay/UK

If she is using Outlook as her Exchange client then add the Public Folder to her Favorites.

Hi Jessica,

Yes, she is using Outlook as her Exchange client.

She can see the public folders whilst she is online, but it disappears once she's off-line.

How do I get it visible off-line?

Regards,
Jay/UK

Hi,

The offline folders sync doesn't seem to work on Public Folders, only on local folders.

Can you help further?

Regards,
Jay

I've just seen this question and know the answer - hope it's still valid.

What you have to do is this. Go "on-line" with outlook, ie, dial-up the RAS then open Outlook.

Under Public Folders, All public folders, find the folder and drag it to Public Folders-Favorites.

Now, Right click on the folder in favourites - go to the synchronisation tab and click available off-line.

Now when the user synchronises her mailbox this folder will also synch and be available offline in the Public Folders-Favorites folder
