I have a L2TP VPN connection to my SBS Server 2003 from home.

If I enter \\ followed by the IP address of the server I get prompted for a user name and password, once entered I have access to all the shared locations.

My question.

Can I configure Outlook on my home pc to connect to the server, once the L2TP VPN connection is activated?

I have entered the details you would normally enter when connecting on the LAN but this does not work.

Can you help please?

define "does not work"

Typically, once you have a VPN connection, Outlook should work fine. Of course, I'm making some assumptions:

- The firewall/concentrator isn't blocking it
- Name resolution is working fine

But there are a bunch of things that could get in the way.

Outlook can not find the Exchange server connection.

What port on my Hardware firewall should be open?

Why not use RPC over HTTP, I´ve been using it for over a year and it works a treat. You just need port 443 open.
Keith.
