connecting to exchange from VPN

I am using microsoft exchange on a windows 2003 standard server.
I setup a vpn connection from 2003 server to my pc. although I am connected I cannot ping or see my server.

has this happened to anyone and if so how did you fix it?

Hi, sounds like dns maybe. Presume your using windows client to vpn. Try adding your domain dns server ip to the vpn config settings.

Read that a bit quick. Thats presuming you cant ping using the server name. Can you ping using the ip of it?

I tried pinging the server name and I'm not getting anything.
I tried pinging the server's Lan IP address and I'm not getting anything.

I don't understand. If I am able to connect how come I can't reach anything on my remote network?
