Connecting to exchange 2000 using LDAP

I am an Ldap virgin.I have a few questions.
1.How can i connect to my Exchange 2000 server using Ldap?
2.Is there anywhere in Exchange 2000 where you can set permissions for people connecting to the exchange using Ldap.
3.I've set up Ldap directory service within outlook but where it ask's for server hostname i presume it is asking for my mail server's name but when i input this,nothing happens.

If anyone can shed any light on this i would be grateful
 
LDAP is a protocol that allows you to query Active Directory within Win2k. Exchange 2000 does not hold its own database such as Exch5.5. Exchange 2000 integrates itself, upon install, to Active Directory and adds several objects in AD that allow you to query that info from AD. For more info:
