Connecting to EliteMail System

I am relatively new to the PBX world, but have had some training from our NEC vendor. I am trying to make some basic changes to our EliteMail VM system, however I'm not able to connect via the CoSession software that our vendor has given me. I'm plugged directly into the card with a 9-pin null modem cable and am using CoSession on a pc, but have not been able to succssfully connect. I can't find any document that shows the proper position of the dip switches on the card, or the baud/parity/etc to set my comm port at, and I think at least one of these is the problem. Unfortunately, the only tech that I trust at my vendor is on vacation this week, and I'd like to get this fixed as soon as possible. Any help that you folks could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try changing the baud rate to either 19200 or 57600 in the cosession setup.

I think the cable from the pc to the pbx is straight through not null modem.

Null modem DB9 to DB9 is correct.

If you can, look at the piano keys near the top of the vm card. They should all be to the left. If piano key 3 is to the right then it needs to be changed to the left and the vm needs to be rebooted. This is probably what is causing the problem.

If the vm is a hard drive vms model then use 19200 baud. If it is newer flash drive vmp then use 57600 baud.

Thanks everyone. I just needed to change to 57600 and it worked great. Unfortunately, I don't have the username and password to login. Does anyone know the default one (willing to bet that our tech never changed it).

NEC is definitely a valid login name, but it keeps asking for an access code. I guess I'll just speak with my vendor Mon morning.

If there is a mailbox that has system manager priveleges, go into manager functions and reset security code for mailbox 632. If that doesn't work, file transfer avent.avd and avapplic.avd. Open them with a text editor and look for the security code.
