Hello,

Got a customer who's opening a new branch office.

Their IT guy wants to connect 12 voip phones at the new office to the BCM400 at their home office via a point to point data circuit.

Is this type of configuration advisable? Wouldn't it be better if the new office had their own system?

Should mot be a problem if it's on the same subnet..

Aslong as the link is stable and you can get to the bcm IP address it should work.

Thank you sir.

We're thinking about selling the customer 1230 IP sets.

Are 1230 IP sets compatible with BCM400 4.0?

For 1230 looks like they do not on 4.0 but do on BCM50 R3 or higher
1100 series is best with back-light but the 20XX series would work on the 4.0

Thanks curlycord.

I've found out in the meantime this customer's system is not a BCM400, it's a BCM200.

I saw a chart on the internet that showed the 1140e set as being compatible with BCM200/400 4.0.

Guess we'll offer them 1140e IP sets instead.

Make sure that the BCM 200 at 4.0 has the latest System 034 patch installed as I think it contained a later IP firmware software in the file.

Thank you FirebirdScrambler.

As I've continued to gather information about this customer I've learned this BCM200 is a 3.6, not a 4.0.

From what I understand, BCM 3.6 uses Unified Manager, not Element Manager.

I've got experience with Element Manager but no experience with Unified Manager.

Can you or any of the other experts here at tek-tips point me in the direction of a BCM200 3.6 programming guide?

I've been searching for one on the internet without any luck.

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks cook1082, the keycodes are easy to overlook.

Many thanks for the link curlycord. It's exactly what I was looking for.
