Hello. I have some questions regarding using port forwarding to connect a remote agent at a branch to the Mitel 3300 at the main site.

The port forwarding is only done on the edge router at the main site: in this case a remote agent should be able to call a local agent at the main site, since the packets are forwarded from the edge router to the Mitel 3300. If however, a local agent at the main site tries to call a remote agent, would it work? or does the remote agent's router need to also be port forwarded to accept the call from the main site?

My other query is besides adding the public ip address of the main site edge router to the ICP address and TFTP address on the IP phone, should the IP phone be given an IP address and subnet mask from the remote agent's local network? If this is the case, wouldn't QoS and bandwidth be affected, since the remote agent's IP phone is using the same network as the data traffic?

Not sure if i exactly understand what you are asking

- what you are stating sounds like TW functionality and for that you need a TW server.

Unless the handset is able to route down a hardware vpn or MPLS network you wont have much success making it work

When connected without a TW server then the handset streams audio directly to the source ( not via the pabx )

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....
