Hi,

I have two Cisco 1721 routers at home which im using for testing and training purposes, and have a serial WIC card on both, can someone tell me what cable I need in order to connect them together so I can emulate a serial connection between them.

Alistair.

What is the model of the serial interface? The cables listed above will work with a WIC-1T but not with other types of serial cards.

Ok thanks, I will check tonight, so you just connect these two cables together then?

So its two 1721's im trying to connect together , both have WIC-1T in them.

I have got a CAB-X21MT but this only connects to one side. What do I need then to get them connected to each other?

Sorry not following :-(

I put my CAB-X21MT (DB-60 Connection) into the back of the WIC-1T card and at the other end is a 15 male pin connector (don't know the name) so how do I connect this cable to the other WIC-1T serial interface card on the other router.

You need a CAB-X21FC as well,

This also has a DB60 connector and a 15 pin female connector (to connect to your CAB-X21MT)

CAB-X21MT Cable part one
CAB-X21FC Cable part two

One side DTE other side DCE. Need both parts to do this.

Many thanks for the help, I've two CAB-X21MT's at home I'll see if I can get the X21FC from work tomrrow.

Thanks Guys.
