I want to connect a customer's existing panasonic system to a new mitel 5000 so that they can keep their existing wireless phones. I found instructions on connecting a mitel 5000 to a non-mitel device via E&M trunks through the T1. I was Wondering if anyone would know the proper configuration for the TDA100 with a PRI 23 card.

Mitel 5000 Programming:

1. Setup a T1 board in the system and configure as E&M Trunks.
- Use B8ZS and Extended Superframe for Zero Code Suppression and Framming (D4 and AMI could work as well)
- Set the LBO to be -7.5
- Set for either Master to Private or Slave to Private as needed
- Go into each trunk and set service type to be *ANI*DNIS*
- Set the number of digits to be collected to "11"

2. Create a Trunk Group and put all the E&M channels into this trunk group.
- Set the ring in destination to be a Call Routing Table (assign the table too)
- Set the echo trunk number flag to Yes

3. In the Call Routing Table you assigned in #2 above make the following entries
- For IC calls (assuming 5000 extension are 1000-1xxx)
Pattern Ring-in Type Ring-in destination
1xxx Collect Digits

- For local calls (assuming 7 digit local dialing)
Pattern Ring-in Type Ring-in destination
Nxxxxxx Single ARS 92000

- For long distance calls (assuming 10 or 11 digit dialing)
Pattern Ring-in Type Ring-in destination
1Nxxxxxxxxx Single ARS 92000
Nxxxxxxxxx Single ARS 92000

Not sure about 500 systems , but i have done this using ISDN e1 connections on 3300.

Biggest issue we had was with the ISDN card on the panasonic, there was a setting to return ring tone on incoming calls
thats not needed when tda is connected to a carrier , but was when connected to the 3300

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

I have never found anything in the 5000 that allows Q-SIG to be turned on.

The panasonic can be set as either Q-SIG Slave or master,

I have never done this but it looks like you need to create a node in the 5000, when this is done you can change the T1/E1 switch type to Private Network which is Q-SIG.
The Mitel 5000 can also be a master or slave clock source.

I'm not 100% sure on any of this so advise is to be taken lightly.

Maybe SIP Trunks [smile]

Do you know if the Mitel will accept a Panasonic as a possible NODE. Or is it looking for a proprietary device to be that node.

Looks like it isn't Q-SIG going by
But I found this in the DB Help File which suggests otherwise.

E1/PRI Module

Supports Private Networking, PRI NET-5, and IP Private Networking.

If the module being programmed will be used to connect two nodes in a network, select the Private Networking ISDN Switch Type.

Select IP Private Network for a PRI span that is attached to an IP Networking Module or other IP networking device. When the ISDN Switch Type is set to IP Private Network, the System uses the QSIG Master switch type and the connected device must be set for QSIG Slave. Also note that you do not need to specify a Node Number.

I don't use T1 so the above is for E1, my guess is that you would set the Switch Type as "IP Private Networking" this would then enable the Mitel as a Q-SIG Master.

I don't have a T1/E1 card so I can't test anything. Maybe it is only going to work Mitel <-> Mitel I can't tell you for sure.

The card for our panasonic is pri only. i guess we'll have to try and get a T1 card to try this, but I'm not sure if we can get a E1 card for testing.

I jury rigged them together for now using the analog extension ports on the Mitel with the CO ports on the Panasonic. not the most efficient solution, but looks like it will have to do.

You might be able to get SIP trunks to work, again I have no experience with this Pana <-> Mitel
