Evening all,

I apologise if this question has already been asked in the forums but I couldn't find what I was looking for based on my search queries. So here goes anyway...

I have 2 SV8100 series and was wondering can I connect the 2 of them together to act as an extension of each other. If I have confused anyone what I mean by this is that I want to be able to plug Unit A into Unit B (in the same office) and allow both Internal and External calls to be made. I have tried to get hold of our local telecoms engineers who fitted the gear and they are about as much use as a melted chocolate fireguard.

The initial query I had was about adding a daughter board (at least thats what I think its called so I cann add VOIP handsets into an existing system that has no room for expansion of cards. I still havn't had a quote for the cards that I need to do this so since I have acquired another SV8100 series I have removed out of another install we had. So hence wondering if I could use this to make my existing system any larger in the amount of phones it supports.

Both SVs I have are capable of 8 Digi & 2 Anaolog devices so could I pair the 2 somehow and allow 16 Digi & 4 Analogs??

If so any hints, tips and info would be greatly appreciated (that's if I havn't confused everyone even more).

Thanks
Dave

If at 1st you don't succeed then I guess your i the right place to ask why! :p

Your post is a little vague. If you are looking to add IP phones, then you need to verify or add in IP phone licenses then verify or add in a VoIP PAD card. To link together 2 systems you need to add in a CCIS or netlink license. Each system would require the licenses unless you go with netlink. In that arrangement you load all of the licenses into the main site and it feeds what is required to the remote site. My suggestion to you is to nail down your vender and discuss your ultimate goal with them to engineer the best solution.

Kryptor,
There some ways to connect 2 or more SV8100, Netlink, K-CCIS or IP trunk with IP station.
It depend what you want. All of them need especific license.
To expand the system you will need more boads.

Thank you all for the advice given with regards to linking the systems together.

I have 2 of the Baby NEC SV8100 systems. Both units have the following cards installed:
[ul]
[li]CD-CP00[/li]
[li]CD-2BRIA[/li]
[li]CD-LTA[/li]
[/ul]

What I asked our original installation company for was an expansion, as I can only have 8 digital and 2 analogues running off our current setup.

I looked at the possiblity of using VOIP addin cards as this will give me the flexibility of running them over a switch/hub/socket doubler so it gives me more freedom, otherwise I need to find a way of making the system accept more digital handsets, this is why I asked if it would be possible to connect 2 SV8100 together, but then have them to communicate over the same extension number range ie 101 - 112 on system 1, then 113 - 124 on system 2 but to also make calls over the same ISDN channels?

I hope I have explained this in a little more detail and I have not confused things any further?

Thanks
Dave

Whilst I am not really conversant with the 8100, one thing I am fairly certain of is that the solution is possible but would cost more than it is worth. Licensing and equipment costs would probably be more than it would cost to sell the two systems and use the cash to upgrade to a larger system (assuming you couldn't expand one of the existing systems)
