Good day, I am attempting to link 2 linksys wrt54g routers and i have no idea what to do! Can anyone help me or send me on the right direction. I have disabled DHCP on one router and also changed the IP address but im not sure what else. Thank you.

It is not that hard.

On the second router, use the setup page to disable DHCP.

Then connect the first and second router together with a regular Cat-5 cable. One to the uplink LAN port, the other to the regular LAN port.

You do not use the WAN port on the second router.

Can two WRT54G routers be connect wirelessly? I have one now with 2 pc's connected, then run to a switch with 3 pc connected at the other end of the house. I was wondering if I could have one wrt54g with my 2 pcs wired in my room, and another wrt54g with the other 3 pcs wired in the living room, and have the 2 routers communicate wirelessly? I would imagine just disabling dhcp and making all the wireless settings exact would work? If anyone knows, please respond.

Thanks,
Matt

When connecting the WRT54G router to the Linksys 8 Port Router as you have outlined it in your previous note, are there any particluar address settings that need to be specified on the WRT54G other than disabling DHCP? Does one need to specify a different IP address for the setup web page on the WRT54G than what is already in place for the 8 port Linksys router? Both use the same IP address as a default. The 8 port Linksys is connected to the DSL modem.
Thank you
Dave

dfaulk8976,

. If you connect the devices using only the LAN ports, there is essentially no-routing on the LAN side. It should pull the address from the 8-port router.

. In a formal way:

. disable DHCP on the WRT54G router
. Place the WRT54G in 'Router' not 'Gatway' mode
. Run the cable between the 'Up Link' port of the 8-port to the WRT54G normal LAN port (not the WAN port).

There are other possibilities, the following discussion is generic albeit specific Linksys models are used as examples:
