I have a new customer with 2 office spaces in the same building with 2 separate CICS systems. They now want to connect the 2 CICS so users from both sides can call one another. Is there any other way other than the VOIP gateway method to do this? I guess you're pretty limited as the CICS does not have T1 or E&M trunk capability ...

best is to sell those CICS and buy a MICS. you can probably get a used mics pretty cheap, and sell those CICS to cover the cost.

you could put a couple of analog adapters in, run a dn to each one, then put it on a line appearance and put that line in a separate pool group (b) access the pool through say 8.
Then 8 would give you access to the other cics stations. of course you would only have 1 line into each system.
just a thought...

This is basically what I am trying to do as well, only with (1) CICS and (1) MICS. They have to be kept seperate since they are two seperate businesses under the same roof.

How do you program them so when you hit 8 (or in my case they want to use 7), that it routes through the ATA's? Also, instead of ATA's, can I use the ASM on the MICS??

ASM will work as well, just put the line or lines, you put the ata's in as pool "b"or whatever pool you use, then make access to that pool "7"
When you dial 7221 or whatever dn in the other group it will go through the ata (asm) and ring their group.

How do I specify pool access??? Under system programming, access codes, line pool codes, I can only specify 0 or 9....

You may have to work around (because of conflicts) 91 etc. Or find the conflicts and change them. if you are using routes you may have to build one there.
