I'm trying to connect my modem via USB to the comp.
The ethernet works fine but I want to try USB, so I can connect my Wii also.
The comp dosn't recognize the USB. I ran the installation disc & followed all the
instructions. Still no good.

Have you tried ALL the USB ports on the computer? Often you'll have front connections which connect inside the case via cables to the motherboard. An incorrectly connected cable may be the answer here. If, however, you've tried the rear USB ports which are integral to the motherboard and got no response, then you'll need to look elsewhere.

Check the BIOS settings to see that USB is set to ENABLE. What operating system are you running? XP, W98, etc?? Do you have any other USB devices like a memory stick, which work ok?

In XP, check Device Manager to see that USB ports are installed ok.

My friend came over & did something with Data management, network devices, Device Manager or something.
We installed drivers for usb modem then that worked.
I tried most of the usb ports.

Win XP pro. I have an SD card that works.

Then i found out you can't use Wii & the comp with a modem at the same time,
so i guess i need a router.
Thanks.
