Is it possible to connect to another system (non IP Office) via SIP Trunks? If so, are there Application Notes for these setups?

There may be application notes, but probably not. I've integrated a bunch of different systems with IP Office - SIP is pretty standardised (although not perfect) so it's not too difficult.

What is the far end system type?

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. You would need to get some SIP information from the far end, and it would have to be heavy on testing, but SIP is SIP (sort of), and it should at a minimum make it possible to process calls.

There are a handful of application notes some of which are quote old but can be used as guide.

I recently set up a PA system using a trunk, it's quite simple so long as the other end of the trunk is set up correctly.

All you should have to do is set up the ITSP Address and a basic URI, and send a valid destination number via ARS or SC. The rest should figure itself out.

This is of course with no authentication or anything fancy, just basic calls

I have done it to a 3CX system, like BFG9K said it was with no authentication across a VPN so pretty easy. How would the 2 system talk is it across a VPN as well or across the public IP?

Finally got a little info from the customer. At the far-end, in this case, China, they have a Huawei SoftX3000.

is it a private routable address or across the public internet?
Mike

If it is a private address then can you ping it? If you can ping to the remote address point the SIP line ITSP to the remote system.
