Is there any way to configure an exchange account in Outlook on a home computer that is part of a workgroup to an SBS exchange server part of AD?

Yes, but you'd probably need to point that computer at the server for DNS. Then you can add an Exchange account in Outlook. You'd also need to use the SBS wizard to create the appropriate account/mailbox.

You'll authenticate against the server when you connect to your mailbox via Outlook. You should probably use this syntax for the username: domain\username

We have this set up for our remote users. You have to setup a VPN connection to your work computer. Then create the Outlook Exchange profile. AFTER connecting to your work network, you can open Outlook to access your emails just as if you were in the office. The key to this, is to remember the VPN connection each time.

It will be over the Internet. I was hoping to accomplish without using VPN but appreciate the post because at least this will work.
