connect 56K US-Robotics Modem on MM port

Does anybody ever connect a 56K US-Robotics Faxmodem on EC Meridian Mail port.If yes ,what the setup/config?

It's works on 14.4 US-Robotics but not 56K ,wonder why????
Any advice out there???
