I have two netware 5.1 servers in two diffrent locations and want them to connect to one another through a proxy+ program running on win2000, can I do this without a router or bodermanager? Please help
this sounds very illogical but in theory it is possible. Your w2k box (or proxy program) would need to know where the data needs to be routed to and from. ie Server1(IP) to server2(IP), in essance a gateway. If you are planning on connecting both servers to the win2k PC you will need 2 NICs as well. What is unknown here is wether w2k would allow the routing to be done as we are talking different os's here even though its still IP (I assume the servers are IP and not IPX?). If the servers are on an existing network there must already be a router somewhere, in which case all you need to do is insert one of the servers into the others tree. (well, its not quite that simple but this explanation is longer and you might not need it.)
If you require more help you need to say what youre trying to achieve and why you want to do it this way. I assume if you already have 2 servers they must be serving something somewhere are or they sitting alone doing nothing ?
I have 2 diffrent networks, both Netware 5.1 servers. My dsl modem is connected to a win2k box running a proxy program, the two servers need to share resources.
