Hi

I have an NT network. Both server and proxy server are connected directly to the superstack II 3300 switch.

I had to install web filtering software on my server because the proxy server doesn't meet the system requirements of the software.

For the web-filtering software on my server to work I need to configure mirroring of the proxy-port to the port of the server. It is nog in the manual, but they told me it's possible.

How can I do this?
What are the risks?

Thanks

Wim

The thing with switches is that each port is isolated. So unlike a hub you can't sniff all data from another port. The exact term for 3Com is a "roving analysis port"

if you telnet to the device go to feature > analyzer and add port. When you add this to a port that port will receive all traffic on the switch.

hope this helps
