I have a link this is a intranet site I am trying to create an entry and leave out the :3030 I am using windows 2003 server How would I configure DNS to use this url

I have added the A record but when accessing the site I get a message You are not authorized to view this page but when I add the :3030 to the url I am able to open the page

You can't add port numbers to your A record. You always have to include the port number when you type in your URL (unless it uses port 80/443). If you don't want to use 3030, change it to 80. If you do change it to 80 make sure it doesn't conflict with any other Web sites on that server. If it does use Host Headers or add a second IP address for that Web site.
