Configuring Conditional Forwarder using Windows 2003 DNS

I'm trying to setup a conditional forwarder for another domain. My domain name is the following "im.special.com". The domain name I'm trying to set a forwarder up for is "noiam.im.special.com". When I input the domain name and then it's IP address I receive the following error.

"The server forwarders cannot be updated. A zone configuration problem occurred."

The IP for the domain isn't valid yet but I wouldn't think that would prevent me from setting it up. I've never really messed with conditional forwarders before so I could just be inputting the wrong information.

As far as that article is concerned it seems like it should work just fine because the zone noiam.im.special.com isn't delegated to one of my DNS servers. In fact it seems like that's the reason for having it.

You can't admin subdomains that way, only domains that are not part of your domain tree.

If you want to set up 'noiam', you need to right-click the 'im' domain and choose 'new delegation.' When it asks what the domain will be, just use 'noiam'. Then you'll be able to supply the IP address or FQDN of the server that will really host the 'noiam' namespace.
