Does anyone know how to configure a client so it uses a different port number to communicate with the XML service on the server farm

It defaults to 80 - as it uses HTTP\TCP\IP - but as my XML service is set to 8080 on the farm I need to change it

Change in server location for http+tcp, or appsrv.ini or pn.ini not sure which

Found this entry in appsrv.ini

XmlAddressResolutionType=DNS-Port

so presumably just add the port number after the =

I would think so.

You could test it by creating a Custom ICA connection with a different port.

I've tried editing the appsrv.ini from

XmlAddressResolutionType=DNS-Port

to....

XmlAddressResolutionType=8080

But no joy

Tried a custom connection but same result !

Erm have you changed the xml service port to 8080 on your citrix boxes ? restart Citrix XML Service ?

Hi Scott

Not me - i've inherited this lot- if it had stayed
at the default of 80 - happy days

I believe that to change XML port you have to do it via the commmand prompt on each server - and not to keen on this as all server comms depend on it - probably not worth the hasssle

So I just want to see what manual config is necessary fo the client side

In that case you should change

XmlAddressResolutionType=8080

to

XmlAddressResolutionType=80

I think [wink]

The XML service has been changed to 8080 on the servers so the clients need to reflect this

In praxtical terms we don't have a problem here as add server names in on the client....

I just want to know if the clients are configured to use HTTP\TCP\IP and you have your ICA DNS entry pointing at your data collector if the clients automatically pick up the farm\ server info ??

Sorry I completely misread you post.

That is the way it should work yes.
