Hello,

Would someone help me to configure ARN, so I can connect the device manager to it, please. I am new to Nortel, and I am not sure how to start. I mean I know that you could assign an ip address to ethernet interface and then connect laptop to that interface with the device manager to finish configuration on the router, but I am not sure how to do that.

All the help will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Hi, kondzio

To setup ethernet port you need to run inst_arn.bat file from flash using Manager TI. First conect terminal to console port (9600,8N1) and try to login as Manager.
next run inst_arn.bat and follow on-screen commands.

PS. You can find documentation on Nortel's web pages.

dont forget you need a X-over cable to connect your laptop or pc to the router ethernet port.

Dear Mr Kondzio,
The Simplest way of configuring ARN Router would be assign an IP to the Ethernet Interface and then assign a IP from the same subnet to the Laptop and the physical connectivity between Laptop and Ethernet INterface of ARN Router would be through Cross-Over Cable

This case is maybe OK, but:
- BCC is also a option. This is the CLI for the Bay/Nortel routers. Login to the router, and start BCC by typing "bcc". Then you don't need Site Manager. This requires 16MB RAM in the router.
- Device Manager is for the Nortel Switch
- Site Manager is for the routers

Working with:
- Nortel Networks, Routers, switches
- Alteon
- CacheFlow
- Blue Coat
