how would i go about using DYNSNS after signing up?

in my router settings under advanced and gaming it says the following
ENABLD CHECK
NAME APACHE1
IP ADDRESS 192.168.0.10
TCP PORT 80
UDP PORT 80,443
SCHEDULE ALWAYS
INBOUND FILTER ALLOW ALL
THATS WHAT IT SAYS

I got to you page so it is working now. Next step is to see if wee can use you sub-domain from dyndns.

AWESOME THEN IT WORKS NOW? so if my friends want to access files im sharing. they would just type my ip adress which the one i get from command promt or from whatismyip.com?
and also do i need to use DYNDNS or can i just take that off?
thank you

For right now they can use but mind you, that will change from time to time so I would use dyndns. Port 80 is not being blocked by your isp so all you need is the name pointing to your current ip. That is what that update thingy does. If you know your url, I can test it from here.

my url which is my domain name?
if thats what you meen..this is the one i have

do you know why i get a pop up that says DYNDNS UPDATER
UPDATE RESULTS ERROR NO UPDATE?

THE DYNDNS icon on the taskbar next to the time.
its red instead of green and it says cannot detect last update time.
then i get a pop up next to that and it says
UPDATE RESULTS ERROR NO UPDATE?
it keeps poping up all the time.

Oh. I thought you knew and were going to tell me what you found. I'm a little slow on the uptake. The reason it isn't working is because the computer has a static ip (192.168.0.10). The number that changes is the router. It gets its ip via dhcp from your isp. Your router should have a page that will let you set up an updater with dyndns so you don't have to use the one on the computer.

that sound complicated to do lol
ok my other question is whn my friends access my files say like a song or a movie.
all they do is klik it and it should play or how does that work?
can you try and klik on one of the files and see if it plays?
thank you

If it is a zip file they will be asked if they want to download it. If it is a file that the browser can display, it will use the plug-in for that file type. You should be able to right click and have the option to download. If you want to setup the updater on your router, I have a few minutes. The page is in the Tools menu. Then click on dynamic dns.

ok sure but, they cant just klik it and it plays? so they wont have to download it? its not a zip file.
and yes i would like to setup the updater on my router if you dont mind helping me with that.
thank you

Oh yeah, That is what I was saying. If they click on it and their browser has the plug-in for that file type it will play. For example, it may use Windows Media Player or it may use Quicktime. It depends on each users computer. They choose what to use for each file type.

Are you on the Dynamic DNS page?

let me take a guess
first i enable the dynamic dns
then in the
server address i put in my domain name that i created
user name or key i have no idea what goes there
password or key i have no idea

i really have no idea can you tell me what i need to put in there?
thanks
