Hi,

I've installed apache http web server 2.0.49 on a winXP professional, standalone desktop PC purely for testing purposes. It mostley seems to work fine, HTML and SHTML pages are served out of the specified directory without any problems. The only problem seems to be CGI. I have added ExecCGI (and experimented with +ExecCGI) in all of the appropriate <directory> tags, amended the scriptalias to my cgi folder, and added the .bat and .cgi handlers, but still when I type
I just get a 'page cannot be displayed' error. Surely I should get either a download/save as prompt box or at least the .bat file should run?? I thought at first maybe the .bat file was just executing too quickly for me to notice so I added the /p switch to the batch file so that I would have to press a key on the keyboard before the dos window closed but it's still exactly the same.

Did you install perl? Did you install it manually or with the msi installer? I don't speak Windoweez so I can't give you the particulars, but I think perl's "/bin" directory needs to be in your path and in the registry. From what I understand, you can also use a perl module with apache called mod-perl but again I'm ignorant as to how it is applied on a Windows platform. Maybe I should just let someone who knows what they are talking about answer this question. :)

hey, thats cool, thanks for the info, I'm willing to try anything!! If anyone else has got any suggestions, keep 'em coming!
