I'm not sure if this can be done, but we have a set of physicians that would like to dial an easy extension and be directly sent to voicemail that would be checked at a later date.

Example dial 5555 and then it would go to a voicemail for retreivel at a later time. I tried to set this up, but it was throwing a fit about the cabinet numbers not being correct. Is there a way to do this without taking an actual extension?

Thanks guys you've came through for me once before :)

Hi, I/we are not sure what gear you are running but i'll assume a 200-SX. You need what they call a "phantom". This is usually a card programmed into the system but does not actually function. You may already a phantom card programmed in.

Get a dump of all the bay/slot/ccts. If you see a bay & slot that exists in programming but not in the physical cabinets then that should work. Assign it your extension and give it the usual mail settings.

Alternately if you have a bunch of spare circuits (no phones hooked up to a bay/card), then just program that as your ext and same with a mail box. I doubt you'd miss one "real" extension.

System type matters - Methods differ.

Not sure why the cabinet numbers matter then if its a 3300. More likely the SX200 with that embedded VM card.

Anyway on a 3300 you could use a hunt group( or ring group ) and reroute it to the VM. The mailbox would be the hunt group pilot.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Sorry yes it's a 3300. I know quite a bit about the phones, but I have no idea how you could check the accts/cabinets/cards et cetra. We've never been formally trained.

I've noticed hunt groups before while setting up accounts, but don't know how to configure them or a ring group, much less rerouting it to the voice mail when the number is dialed.

The only reason reason I got the cabinet error is I tried to setup an extension with random cabinet/shelf numbers.

Sorry I can't be more specific :(

If you do not require a message lamp to light when messages are left and the mailbox will be checked regularly then there is a very simple solution.

Create a hunt group *5555
Route Hunt Group to VM
Create VM 5555

Done.

Ok I setup my vm and my hunt group. I feel bad that I'm taking your guys time, but I really appreciate it :D

Hunt Group:

Mailbox Setup:

I have to be doing this wrong :( I'm doing it under the tabs in the alphabetical forms.

Hunt Group Assignment
Voicemail Configuration

You need to set the routing of the huntgroup to voicemail

Call Rerouting assignment form.

Set the Day / Night 1 / Night 2 to the routing number that matches voicemail.

If your not sure, check the Call Rerouting Always form for which value.

I can't seem to figure this out. Tomorrow I will knuckle down and try my best to get it. If you have time maybe you could help either via remotely, i.m., or a tutorial? I have to be pretty close.

Thanks again :)

Post screen shots of your:

Call Rerouting Always Form

Call Rerouting Assignment form (with 5555 on page)

Also tell us what the Hunt group Pilot number for VM is.

BTW - I can't speak for others but I can only advise thru this method. I'm not comfortable with more direct access as that is my 9-5 job.

Call Rerouting Always Form
Everything on this form says the same things as in the picture

Call Rerouting Assignment form (5555 ext.)

Hunt group for VM

I have another pic of the hunt group for 5555, but I think I posted it yesterday. I am having terrible internet so I had to tether to my phone. If you need something else please let me know.

Thank you again I really really appreciate it!

The Screen shot of the Rerouting Always form is showing options 166-175

I was kind-of hoping for 1-10.

I am willing to bet that one of the options from 1-10 is setup to reroute on all conditions to 5460. If not choose a blank one (that is not #1, 2 or higher only) and configure to reroute on all conditions to 5460.

The in the re-routing assignment form for 5555 set the values for Day / Night1 / Night2 (currently set to 1) to the value that is programmed to goto 5460.

I repeat for emphasis - DO NOT ASSIGN A REROUTE VALUE TO 1 in the Call Reouting Always Assignment form.

I set the huntgroup to 2 because that goes to 5460 our extension for voicemail. I tried to change the 5555 hunt group to vm, but it was giving me an error saying the COS doesn't include a voiceamil port? Something along those lines.

I tried to change the 5555 hunt group to vm?????? NO NO NO!

In the re-routing assignment form for 5555 set the values for Day / Night1 / Night2 (currently set to 1) to the value that is programmed to go to 5460 (Now determined as 2)

I got voicemail!!! Whoohoo. I want to go through and make sure all my settings are correct and I'm going to type up a how-to. This way I can give back to the community and to anybody else who comes after me to my job.

I will post ss's to let you check my settings when I get done. Again thank you so much for your help!

There's already a how to (With extra stuff):

kwbMitel do you know why I can't reach the extension from outside using a direct number, but if I'm internal I can dial the extension and it works. For example the extension is 5555, but from the outside we would dial 777-0555 and it would ring the inside extension. Is this some other option I must setup?

You would have an existing range of outside numbers. My guess is that number is not part of the existing range.

Is there a way of changing that range or adding an exception to it?
