I have a westell 2200 DSL modem /router and a linksys
befsr41 DSL router.

I want to configure a network as follows. Westell 2000
wan interface and router 192.168.1.1 Linksys internal lan interface 10.5.5.5

I want to be able to access both of these routers from
a web browser on my net work.
and eventually have the following setup westell 2200 > firewall > linksys.

The olny way I have had success is to use PPPoe to pass through the westell ?? Help

Set your westell to 192.168.1.1 on the lan side. Set the Linksys to 192.168.1.2 on the wan side and set the linksys gateway to 192.168.1.1 (The westell's ip).

On the Lan side or Local ip address of the Linksys, set the IP address as 10.5.5.5. Set up DHCP or manually configure your pc's to 10.5.5.6 with a gateway of 10.5.5.5

From your PC you should be able to ping both 10.5.5.5 and 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2

OK I made these changes and was not able to ping all of the interfaces untill I cloned my main system MAC onto the linksys. with the MAC clone I can ping all the interfaces

Access the http admin panels on the lynksys and the westell but I can no longer accesss the internet?

Any thoughts

traffic for internet would be forward to gateway 10.5.5.5 i think the gateway 10.5.5.5 have no idea how to forward the traffic to 192.168.1.1 . you might have to add static route to forward the internet traffic to gateway 192.168.1.1 from your linksys router. i am not sure if this is right or not , one way u can try is to manual add a gateway 192.168.1.1 on one of your client machine and test it.

please specify what is the model of the router ( westell ) not just 2200 is wirespeed or which one is it ?

We did that here connected a router to a DSL modem. All we did is kept the default IP of the modem the way the ISP wants it to be (192.168.0.1) and then changed the routers IP from 192.168.0.1 to 193.168.0.1, and that allowed us to access both the router and the modem settings from a browser on the computer. As for the firewall, I do not know how to do that
