Configuring a Cisco 2950 Swich

I have done the basic setup and configured vlan1 with IP address etc. But when i look at the interface for vlan1, it shows vlan1 is up but line protocol is down. Also when i look at the interface for the Ethernet ports it shows FastEthernet0/1 is down and line protocol is down. how do i up these ?

Use "no shutdown" command to make FastEthernet 0/1 up.
Linke a actived NIC to the Fa port,then the line protocol would turn up.
When any interfaces in a vlan was active£¬the vlan's line protocol would turn up.
