Hello all,

Does anyone have screen shots of the "Configure Server" through the web interface? I am going to be changing some IP stuff this weekend and just want to give it a look as I have not done it before.

Just trying to be proactive and make this weekend a smooth one.

First off thanks for everything so far. I think I have a pretty good handle on it now. My only question is the last part of you post where you said this...

For an lsp, your MGC list should be entered lile this.

clan, clan, 8300 (Ip addresses)

set mgc list x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x

you should make sure your recovery settings are correct...

4
10
2

2 on the transition points will let you search 2 clans for 4 min and the allow the third entry (8300 ADDRESS) to take over....

Can you clarify this a little more?

show mgp rec

this will bring up this

4
10
2

this should be the way is comes up on the screen

top one is the primary search time
middle is the total search time
bottom is the transition points

default, this is set to
1
30
1

The default will not work correctly

the the transition points should = the number of clan addresses you have in the MGC list. after the g700 checks the both clans, it will fail to the 8300. if you only have one clan in the list or your system, the transition points should be a 1... I don't think it's a good idea to have only one, but that's up to you.

here is an example MGC List

8300-192.168.5.24
clan1-192.168.6.30
clan2-192.168.6.31

show mgc list

192.168.6.30
192.168.6.31
192.168.5.24

this will display

to change the mgc list,

show mgc list
(write down the addresses on the list just in case)

clear mgc list

set mgc list 192.168.6.30, 192.168.6.31, 192.168.5.24

show mgc list

192.168.6.30
192.168.6.31
192.168.5.24

this will display

192.168.6.30 -transition point 1
192.168.6.31 -transition point 2
192.168.5.24 -8300 lsp

I hope this helps... And isn't too confusing..

One more thing. When all your changes are complete on the LSP and the 8700. Do a save trans all and then display lsp. This is the easiest way to see if your 8300 is back on line. If for some reason it doesn't sync back up with the 8700, Check your addresses and reset the 8300. You may also want to set the recovery rule on the ch media gateway form for rule 1. The default will let the g700 re register and soon as it sees the network. I'll keep my laptop up on Sunday.... Just post if you run into a problem..

Wow...I really appreciate that. Thanks again for all the info. I will be sure to take you up on that offer. But hopefully won't need to.

The cut went very well. Thanks for all the info.

We do have a problem with our media processors. How do I change the broadcast ip address?

Problem solved.

I was talking about the media processors on my 8700. I had missed one which was causing some problems. No sound...dropped calls.

Everything is working great now. It just was my oversite. Thanks dj42Avaya!! You were a huge help. If you are ever in the Detroit area let me know...I owe you a beer or 20.

Great Thread - One Question: What is does the total search time indicate on the MGP recovery settings?

The total search time is the length of time that the gateway spends trying to connect to all alternate resources.
