Configure internet connection on Linux

Hi,

I am new in Linux and i am trying to configure my internet connection on Linux.I know that i have to use a special program that helps Linux to "see" the modem.Can anyone explain me the details of this configuration?
I use a Dial up connection.

hi,

try $lspci for download exact drivers
all so you can use setserial command to configure it.
But I suggest buy new external modem for linux.
coz I had headpain while tring to install my modem.

You want to use the "wvdial" program. It's sickenly simple and well documented... Get the package from your distro mirrors and follow config as shown here (or from hundreds of other references via google...)
