Hi Guys,
Has anyone ever configured a BCM400 with a WAN Card with a V35 Cable to linked to a Cisco Router using a serial cable interconnected using V35 cables over a Point to Point connection.I have tried to configured the two devices but am not making head-way. If there's anyone out there with knowlage of this please share, much appreciation for any posts that will be posted for me to get this up and running.

Thanks In Advance

Never personally did it to a Cisco router, but have done it to another Nortel router several years ago. As long as the encap is set to PPP, you're using WAN2 (which is the serial port of the WAN card), your IP addresses are correct on the WAN interface, you have the correct V.35 cable, and the external CSU/DSU is configured with the proper number of channels assigned to the V.35 port, then you should be fine.

Just a word of advice. If you have the option, I'd strongly recommend putting an external router at the BCM site, whether it be Cisco or Nortel. If you have to reboot the BCM for patches, etc, you'll lose the WAN connection when it reboots. Not to mention the WAN card in the BCM tends to be a little flaky at times. Just my opinion, but I say let your phone system be a phone system and let your routers be routers. If I'm not mistaken, Nortel discontinued the BCM WAN cards a couple years ago. Today, you can buy a Nortel SR1001 router for less than the WAN card cost.

Hi,
