Configuration register change

I have 2 2651 routers connected via a E1 card. One of them is giving me trouble and keeps looking for is configuration via TFTP server. this is the error i'm getting every minute:

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg (Timed out)
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg (Timed out)
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/sophia-confg (Timed out)

I'm sure it's related to the config register, this one is set to 0x3922. the one that is fine with no problem is set to 0x2102.
Everytime I try to change it, like this :

Sophia#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Sophia(config)#config-register 0x2102
Sophia(config)#^Z
Sophia#

and then I use the show version command to see if at the next reload it will change, it shows only this:

Configuration register is 0x3922

it never wants to change it.

I don't have this problem with the other router... Same model same memory same IOS...

Add the write memory command after you change the setting.

What's the write memory command? WR ?

What IOS version arre you using. The "write memory" command is used with the older versions like pre 11.2 (i think). For newer versions it you have to type "copy run start"

All of this must be done in Router(config)# mode.

TRy booting into Rommon and changing it there.

Write Mem and or copy running-config startup-config ( same but different is what I always say ).

After you change the configuration register, and do a show version it should say 0x2102 next reload. type reload and then do a show version it should have changed
