I've copied the config from my pix 520 into a notepad file. Made my changes and now I'm trying to write it back to the pix with tftp and overwrite the existing config. the process starts but then give me errors about existing nats. how can i completley replace the existing config with the revised version saved as a notepad txt.

Thanks

try "clear conf secondary" before uploading your conf again.

Rgds,
Phil.

HI!

You have several options.
First try the command:

clear xlate

and then paster your config (or download from TFTP).

If that doesn't solve, try other "clear" commands as needed.

If no help, reboot the PIX and then configure.
You might need to disconnect the PIX from network if it is a very busy one.
If that's a big problem, then check your config again, maybe you need to copy and paste (or type) only the required changes and not all the modified config.

In any case ("clear xlate"/reboot and so) you will have some distruption to network flow.

Bye
