I have a 3300 MCD 5.0 with new Allstream SIP trunks and I am going through the verification process and all work except the conference part. If one extension calls another and that extension tries to conference in an outside number all you get is dead air as far as the outside party is concerned, you cannot hear the outside pary and they cannot hear you. This same extension can conference the existing copper analogue lines. I have followed the Interop but am obviously missing something in regards to conferencing. Any help would be appreciated.

Check your gateways and routing for the phones to the sip network

Is there a MAS server in the mix somewhere and does it have all of the necessary local networks?

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Everthing else works ok regarding the SIP trunks?

If no MAS do you use a stand alone MBG as the landing point for the SIP trunks? Would need the same local networks defined as mentioned above.

Basically if using copper the communications between happens between the IP of the controller and the two phones. With SIP's as trunks then the communication would be between IP's or the sets, the controller and the SIP gateway ( I think ).

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

calls go out ok and incoming calls are ok, it is just when I try and conference, does it use a specific port for transferring? I thought I might be missing an option.
Currently until we go into production we are going out our internet connection to a dedicated IP to Allstream as I understand it. This is at one of our remote offices so I am not currently there.
I can call in on one of the two SIP trunks I have to the auto attendant then key in my test extension which is routed to my cell and that works.
