Good Afternoon All

I have a customer in the Financial industry that have day traders on site. I will state upfront that I have not personally met with the customer or been on site. One of our Salespeople have had the only contact with the customer to date.
Apparently there is a need for the initializer of a call, plus ten others, to join a call from seperate phone sets at once. There services are two T-1's, one for LD, one Local. The inbound service is DID's off the T which I have been told is not PRI. The customer is calling what they are looking for as "Bridged Appearances", which I am not familiar with. They are looking into a BCM, current release. Without allowing the lines to have Auto Privacy turned off at all times, is there a conference feature on the newer BCM release that would allow this capability? Do I have options? Is this feature possibly on current Norstar software releases? Thanks in advance

Sounds like they are looking for is what they usually know as a hoot, squawk or shout down.

The only way I know to "try" to do this is what we used to refer as "local" or "meet me" you can label it "bridge" or whatever.

Assign a CO line to the sets with no dial tone on it and no privacy.
Any outside parties would have to conferenced in by someone. The inhouse parties would be paged or called to get on it (or they would look for when it is in use.

An expensive option for this would be to purchase a conference Bridge. It would connect to analog ports that support Disconnect supervision (VMI or Konix DS analog adapters)

Sphoneman,
Can you go over that again? Party A sets up a conference call on line 1 and line 2. Line 3 with no dial tone is assigned to several phones. How do I get everyone together?

the lucent/avaya definity has the 'bridge appearance' feature ... i think with a count of 32.

or else conf bridge is the option

senk1s,

The customer currently has a Definity. Looking to get out of maintanance contract and replace with possibly BCM. Seems like Conference Bridge is the popular option.

if they have a definity they are more likely to be a M1 customer (now called Communication Server 1000)

BagsNYC - I'm making a BIG assumption:

if you are in NYC then call 1-877-813-0623 which is Verizon Conference Connections. Enrollment is FREE. As about on demand coferencing and the rates.

It's an alternative to bridges, and IP solutions of all which require investment.

The older I get, the less I know

Thanks Big Daddy,

It's not really a conference bridge they are looking at. They are looking to jump in and out of calls as they desire. I'm thinking that a group of inbound and outbound lines, dedicated to these types of calls, with Auto Privacy turned off..

Okay maybe iffn you have the bucks then look at the SONEXIS solution...way cool, but ya gotta do your business case and math...ROI, etc... itz very cool and I've used it first hand on traditional and internal with our IP-PBX.

(We just can afford it as an ownership option for our company)

the auatoprivacy feature under lines when set to Y prevents others from picking up on a line in use so the reverse is also true, when set to N it allows others to pick up on a line that is in use.

problem is loss, every time you double the people that are on a line like that you lose 3dB of signal (half the signal strength) so with two people on the call you are 3 db down, four people 6 db down or 1/4 the signal.

even the confrence feature on the norstar is not an amplified confrence.

you can buy confrence bridges to allow the prople to dial into a confrence as stated above, problem there is cost. Look carefully at commercial confrence services, call the 800# and put in a code to go to a confrence, they might be your best option.

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.
