Is it possible to make conference call on your Avaya phone AND then conference into a Meet-me conference active call? We tried to do this and when we hit conference the 2nd time to put everyone together, it wouldn't work.

What is blocking this?

Meet me conferences have the same restrictions as station conferences. They can't connect like that.

Unless you have an EMMC bridge (expanded meet-me conference), you're still restricted to 6-party conferences internally. It doesn't matter if it's initiated at a station or by meet-me.

When we were testing this, we only had one caller in the Meet-Me conference I thought this would still work because the Meet-Me conference was not at its max.

Is the answer simply that you can not take an existing conference call and bridge it into a Meet-Me conference session?

The answer has to do with the mechanism for creating conferences in the PBX.

The way the system allows you and two other parties to hear each other (3-way conference) is that it assigns the same time slot to all of the ports. That way any audio on the TDM buss that is destined for say, time slot 172 will be heard by any ports using time slot 172.

The system limit for sharing a time slot is six ports. The system can't add any more.

VDN's will not accept a conferenced call. Only a single party can connect to a vdn.
